New York, NY – The City College of New York Department of Intercollegiate Athletics proudly joined Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, earlier this year and will recognize 19 student-athletes as members of its inaugural induction class.
Chi Alpha Sigma, founded in 1996 by former DePauw University head football coach Nick Mourouzis, is the nation's first honor society dedicated to collegiate student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. The organization recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding scholarship, leadership, character, and competitive achievement.
Membership connects top student-athletes across the country through a network that celebrates the lasting relationship between academic success and athletic performance.
To be eligible for induction, student-athletes must attend a four-year accredited institution that sponsors varsity athletics, achieve junior academic standing, and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
The 19 CCNY student-athletes selected for this inaugural class embody the department's commitment to academic excellence, competitive success, and leadership on campus. Their recognition highlights CCNY Athletics' continued dedication to developing well-rounded student-athletes who thrive both in the classroom and in competition.
