Second-Half Surge Lifts CCNY Past John Jay, 85–74

New York, NY - The City College of New York men's basketball team put together its most complete performance of the season on Wednesday night, pulling away in the second half to secure an 85–74 victory over John Jay at Nat Holman Gymnasium.

After a tightly contested first half that saw John Jay take a slim 33–32 edge into the break, the Beavers flipped the script with a dominant second-half effort, outscoring the Bloodhounds 53–41 to seal the win.

CCNY's turnaround was fueled by efficiency, physicality, and poise at the free-throw line. The Beavers shot 50.9% from the field for the game and went a decisive 19-for-27 from the line in the second half, repeatedly capitalizing on opportunities as John Jay struggled to keep pace.

Senior Michael Bowman led all scorers with a game-high 24 points, going 6-of-9 from the floor and an impressive 11-of-12 from the free-throw line. Bowman's ability to attack downhill and convert at the stripe proved pivotal as CCNY built separation late.

Junior Abdias Carcamo orchestrated the offense with confidence, finishing with 15 points and a team-high 9 assists, while also contributing six rebounds. Senior Justin Morety added 12 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting, and sophomore Chris Popotte was perfect from the field (3-for-3), chipping in 10 points and six rebounds off strong interior play.

On the glass, senior Camryn Reyes delivered a gritty performance, pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with nine points, helping CCNY win the rebounding battle 48–32 and generate key second-chance opportunities.

John Jay was led by Jamir Stewart, who scored 25 points, and Keyshawn Miller, who added 17 points and eight rebounds, but the Bloodhounds were unable to match CCNY's depth and free-throw production down the stretch.

The Beavers seized control midway through the second half and never looked back, pushing the lead to as many as 11 points in the closing seconds. With the win, CCNY improves to 4–13 overall and 4–3 in conference play, gaining momentum as the season enters its final stretch.
