Davenport, FL - The City College of New York baseball program opened its 2026 season with a 13–0 setback to Brandeis University on Monday evening in Florida at the RussMatt College Baseball Invitational.
Brandeis struck early, capitalizing on a pair of first-inning errors to plate two unearned runs, then broke the game open with a four-run second inning. The Judges added six more runs in the fourth to put the contest out of reach.

Demetri Zirogiannis, while drawing three walks. The Beavers were unable to generate sustained offense, striking out 10 times and leaving four runners on base.
On the mound, sophomore right-handed pitcher
Samuel Puttock took the loss in his season debut, allowing nine runs (seven earned) over three innings of work. Freshman left-handed pitcher
Paul Cucuzzo surrendered four runs in one inning of relief, while freshman right-handed pitcher Thomas Bausenwein provided a bright spot out of the bullpen, tossing two scoreless innings and striking out three.
Brandeis starter Dimitri Skourides earned the win, throwing five hitless innings with eight strikeouts. The Judges finished with 11 hits, including a two-run home run from Keith Lee in the fourth inning.
