Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The City College of New York men's volleyball team split at the CUNYAC multi-match that took place at Baruch College. The Beavers first fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-21) and then defeated College of Staten Island 3-0 (25-23, 27-25, 25-23).

Match One (vs. John Jay)
John Jay (1-0, 1-0 CUNYAC) started the first set off strong and took the initial advantage. City (1-4, 1-1 CUNYAC) used their previous games experience to bring them back into the conversation in the first set. CCNY continued to chip away at the lead, but was unable to take the advantage away from the Bloodhounds. John Jay took the first set 25-26.

City continued to fight for a victory and kept second set close. John Jay took the eventual lead and was able to hold on, but not before City made a statement and showed their skills early on in the 2016 season. John Jay took the second set 25-20.

In the third set, both teams battled for their first victory of the season. For John Jay, they just needed to win the third set to seal their victory, but CCNY fought hard. It was a close third set, but the Bloodhounds took the lead and the victory with a 25-21 win.

Edmund He led the Beavers with 13 kills, while Sebastanjo Aga added seven. He also led the team with five digs, while Cuong Quoc Tran tallied four. Okelsandr Boychuck dished out 20 assists against the Bloodhounds.

Match Two (vs. CSI)
The first set was where it all started and was a perfect prediction of how the entire match would pan out. Both teams exchanged points back-and-forth searching for a conference victory. It would all come down to the final two points in the first set and CCNY was able to take that advantage and earn the victory 25-23.

The second set would be no different from the first, but the Beavers knew they had the first set under their belts and could come out with another win in set two. Both teams played back-and-forth ball while running the score up to the 25 point mark. With the conference foes playing hard, the score was tied 25-25. CCNY took another two-point lead that led them to the victory 27-25 in the second set.

Only one set away from the first victory on the season, the Beavers came out strong and excited to finish the match. The Dolphins would not let them get away with it that easy though as they continued to hold the score close. It was another back-and-forth and intense battle, but it was one that CCNY knew they could win. They dug down deep and pulled out a 25-23 victory in the last set for the match win.

Aga notched his second double-double on the season with 16 kills and 12 digs. He recorded 9 kills in the victory. Oleksandr Boychuk dished out 26 assists and tallied four service aces over the Dolphins. Ejil Patano and Aga recorded four and three service aces, respectively. David Cham and He tallied 12 digs a piece.

The Beavers host their first home match on Monday, February 8 against Albertus Magnus. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
