New York, NY – The City College men's volleyball team opens up its 2017 season this weekend (January 20-22) in a three day tournament, hosted by St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn), Here's a quick look at the Beavers' 2017 season.
Head Coach Andrijana Todorovic, when asked for her thoughts on the upcoming season, said, "We are excited 2017 season. Our goal this year is to have a deep run in the CUNYAC postseason tournament. Our young team of four returning players and five talented newcomers, will be tested but, we feel they are ready for all challenges."
SCHEDULE: CCNY will open up the year against Mount Ida College on Friday at 3 PM in the first day of the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) tournament. The Beavers will then wrap up their first weekend of competition against host St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) on Saturday at 5 PM.
The home opener will take place on Saturday, February 4th, when CCNY host Purchase College at 9 AM. The Beaver will play Wikes University at 1 PM as part of the tri match being hosted by CCNY that day.

RETURNING CAST: The Beavers return two out of their top-2 hitters from a season ago including Sophomore Sebastjano Aga (Tirana, Albania) and Junior David Cham (Brooklyn, NY).
In his freshmen season, Aga received the NCAA Statistical Champion Award for leading NCAA Division III in Kills Per set and Points Per set for this past season. While playing in 26 matches, Aga averaged a nation-best 4.62 Kills Per set in his first season with the Beavers and recorded a total of 430 Kills. He also averaged a nation-best of 5.32 Points Per game.
In his sophomore season, Cham played in 26 matches and was third on the team with 93-kills. Cham was also the teams third leading scorer with 137.5 points and notched 23 assist.
Senior Oleksandr Boychuk (Flushing, N.Y.) who played in 26 matches, who led the team in assist with 662, will also play a pivotal role in City College's quest to capture its third CUNYAC title.
YEAR IN REVIEW: City College earned the fifth seed in the CUNYAC men's volleyball tournament. The Men's Volleyball team fell In five sets In CUNYAC Quarterfinals to York College. The Beavers finished 2016 with a 8-19 record overall, and a 7-9 mark in conference play.
