CCNY Men's Indoor Track & Field Record Five Top-Ten Finishes at Villanova Open

Staten Island, N.Y. – The City College men's track and field teams competed Friday at the Villanova Open, hosted by Villanova University at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The women had five top-ten finishes.  

The Beavers finished thirteenth in the team standings, scoring 21 points. The team competed against some of the top track & field programs in the NCAA, NJCAA and NAIA including Villanova, Albany, TCNJ, Monmouth, Syracuse, Rutgers, St. John's, Monroe College and Lehigh.
 

Highlights

    •    Sophomore Jashane Morrison (Brookyln, NY) took third in the  men's 200-meter dash with a new CUNYAC (Four-year Schools) leading time of 22.56. Morrison also ran 7.25 in the                 
men's 60-meter dash.
    •    Sophomore Eli Joseph ran a season best time of 7.63 in the 60-meters and Shaquan Garnette (Bronx, NY) finished tenth in 8.08.
    •    Sophomore Joseph Esposito (Staten Island, NY) took twelfth in the in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.89. Esposito time now leads all CUNYAC four-year schools.
    •    Sophomore Kavindu Amarasinghe (Staten Island, N.Y.) competed in the 800-meters running 2:09.68. 
    •    Junior Thomas Sullivan (Bayside, NY) placed eleventh in the men's mile clocking a personal best time of 4:43.90. Sophomore Albert Leonardo ran in the mile and finished in  5:03.86.
    •    In the men's 5000 meter run, freshmen Benjamin Freeman placed second with 15:51.93.
    •    Sophomore Bradley Brown (Long Island, N.Y.) ran a season best time of 9.49 in the 60-meter hurdles. 
    •    Sophomore Omar Zapata took twelfth in the men's shot put, throwing 7.47m and Freshman Michael Miranda finished in thirteenth place throwing 6.57m.
    •    Eli Joseph placed sixth in the men's long jump with a mark of  5.14m. In the triple jump Joseph finished fourth with a leap of  11.92m.
    •    Sophomore Samuel Rodriguez placed fifth in the men's triple jump a mark of 11.37m.

*Final meet results separated between NCAA DI schools and Non-NCAA DI schools
