Staten Island, NY - The City College of New York men's track and field program opened the 2023-24 indoor season on Friday, competing at the Seahawk Shootout hosted by Wagner College at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex.
In the 300-meter dash, junior
Antonio Oliveira-Nurse ran a time of 40.16. Freshman Mamodou Sillah clocked a time of 45.62, while freshman
Riley Mercedes posted a time of 56.24.
In the 1000-meter run, freshman Gian-Carlo Riehl ran a time of 2:52.07 in his collegiate debut. Classmate
Toufique Mahmud followed in a time of 2:55.20.
Senior
Edy Morales paced the Beavers in the 3000-meter run, producing a time of 10:12.77. Junior
Christian Rasmussen finished in 10:50.51.
Freshman Nicolae Burlacu competed in the shot put, finishing with a best toss of 6.89m.
In the relays, the Beavers 4x200m relay team of Oliveira-Nurse, Nicolae Burlacu, Morales, and Franco Farfan placed 16th overall with a time of 1:42.25. In the 4x400m relay, CCNY's team, consisting of Morales, Mamodou Sillah, Riehl, and Mahmud, ran a time of 3:55.67.
Next, the CCNY track & field program returns to competition on Friday, Jan. 5, at the Wagner College Invitational, held at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex.
