New York, NY - The City College of New York men's track & field team earned a third-place finish on Sunday evening at the 2024 CUNY Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at Nike Track & Field Center at the Armory.
Freshman
Isaiah Slater dominated the jumping events, claiming first-place finishes in the triple jump (12.58m) and the long jump (6.11m). Freshman
Toufique Mahmud earned gold in the 800m run with a time of 2:10.25 and earned a third-place finish in the 400m dash (53.62).
Freshman
Gian-Carlo Riehl claimed a fifth-place finish in the mile run in a time of 4:56.96 and took seventh in the 800m run (2:15.84). Junior
Christian Rasmussen earned a fifteenth-place finish in the 3000m run ( 11:04.07), while senior
Damian Rivera took sixth in the 800m run (2:40.86).
Junior
Antonio Oliveira-Nurse turned in a third-place performance in the 60m hurdles (9.81) and finished ninth in the long jump (5.37m)
In the throws, freshman
Nicolae Burlacu took eight in the shot put (7.34m) and weight throw (7.12m).
In the relays, the Beavers distance medley relay team of Rasmussen,
Damian Rivera, Mahmud, and Riehl finished second overall among senior colleges. In the 4x400m relay, CCNY's team of Riehl, Rivera, Oliveira-Nurse, and Mahmud combined to run a time of 3:53.18.
