Poughkeepsie, NY - The CCNY baseball program fell on the road Wednesday evening, dropping a midweek nonconference tilt against Vassar College, 22-3. The Beavers fall to 3-15 on the season with the loss.
Center fielder Tyler DiBlasi went 3-for-4 and scored two runs. First basemen Michael Chasanov went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored a run. Second basemen Angel Vega finished 2-for-2, while Eric Romero and Victor Murra Schott each had a base hit. Wellington Gomez tallied an RBI in the game, his first of the second.
Romero drove in the Beaver's first run in the top of the first inning, driving in DiBlasi on an RBI single to center field.
Vassar plated five runs in each of the first three frames and the sixth to jump out to a 20-1 lead after six innings of play.
DiBlasi gave the Beavers their second run of the evening in the eighth inning, reaching home on a wild pitch. In the next at-bat, Gomez drove in Chasanov on an RBI groundout for CCNY's third run.
The Brewers added two more insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings to close the game with a 22-3 victory.
Next, the Beavers return to action on Friday, Apr. 15, hosting Baruch College in a doubleheader of their CUNYAC series finale, beginning at noon at Ohio Field in the Bronx, NY.
