Bronx, NY - The CCNY baseball program came up short in both games of their home CUNY Athletic Conference doubleheader against Baruch College on Friday afternoon at Ohio Field. Baruch took game one by a final score of 12-1 and secured the second game, 28-4.
Game One - Baruch 11, CCNY 2
Senior Sardar Khanbilvardi went 2-for-3 in game one, adding a run and an RBI. Jason Rodriguez notched a hit and an RBI, while John Creegan had a hit and a run scored.
The Beavers tallied their first run in the top of the second inning when Jason Rodriguez doubled to center field, driving Khanbilvardi. Khanbilvardi drove in Creegan for the team's second run on an RBI single up the middle in the third frame.
Game Two - Baruch 24, CCNY 8
Tyler DiBlasi went 2-for-4 in the nightcap, tallying two runs and five RBIs. John Creegan finished 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Ethan Angress went 2-for-4 and batted in a run. Angel Vega extended his hit streak to three games, finishing with 1-for-3 with a run scored. Jonathan Rivera had a pair of runs and a hit, while Khanbilvardi had a hit and an RBI.
Eric Romero started the game on the mound, going to the first 2.1 innings. Matthew Kue threw the next 1.0 frame, recording two strikeouts, Alexander Rozon worked the final three innings, recording a season-high six strikeouts.
Next, CCNY takes on Manhattanville College tomorrow afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader on the road.
