Fishkill, NY - The City College of New York baseball team picked up their second straight win, defeating Mount Saint Mary College Friday night, 7-1, behind an impressive offensive performance. With the win, the Beavers improve to 4-9 overall.
The Knights struck first, scoring their lone run of the game in the first inning off Devin Tait's RBI single to right field.
After a scoreless second inning, the Beavers evened the game in the third. Senior
Ethan Angress led the inning by slapping a double to right field and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Freshman
Kevin Budzinski drove Angress home in the next at-bat on an RBI groundout to tie the game 1-1.
In the fifth,
John Creegan led the inning off with a base hit to right field. Angress's hot hand continued, launching an RBI triple left-center, putting the Beavers up 2-1. Angress tallied his second run of the game on Budzinski's RBI groundout, lifting CCNY to a 3-1 advantage.
In the sixth, the Beavers added two runs to their lead to go up 5-1. Creegan singled through the left side right to score
Stephen Suprun. A fielding error by the Knights aided Creegan in scoring an unearned run for the Beavers.
The Beavers tallied two insurance runs in the ninth. With two outs,
Jonathan Rivera ripped a two-RBI single through the left side, scoring
Mike Savino and Budzinski to take a 7-1

Matthew Kue started a contest, working 4.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits while recording a career-high five strikeouts.
Brandon Paider picked up his second win of the season after tossing two innings, allowing no runs and no hot while striking out one.
James Dean Johnstone finished the last three innings, striking out one and allowing two hits for his first career save.
The Beavers wrap up the weekend on Sunday, Mar. 26, on the road in a non-conference doubleheader against Albertus Magnus College.
