CCNY Women's Track & Field Takes Second at 2023 CUNYAC Outdoor Championships

New York, NY - The City College of New York women's track and field program earned a second-place finish on Saturday at the 2023 CUNY Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Icahn Stadium.

Sophomore Serena Warner earned a trio of first-place performances to lead the Beavers. She was crowned conference champion in the long jump (4.46m), discus (29.61m), and shot put (9.85m) events while finishing second in the hammer (23.61m) and third in the javelin (25.94m).

Freshman Zuha Khan had a successful day winning the 100m hurdles is a personal-best time of 18.62, and securing a second-place finish in the 400m hurdles.

Sophomore Leondra Craig pulled in a first-place finish in the javelin with a personal-best toss of 29.07m. Craig also earned a pair of second-place finishes in the shot put (8.53m) and the long jump (4.39m), along with a third-place finish in the discus (23.34m).

Sophomore Zara McPartland earned gold in the 3000m steeplechase, clocking a time of 14:39.10 and placed second overall in the high jump (1.40m).

Freshman Samantha Maendel turned in a trio of second-place finishes. In the 200m dash, Maendel ran a personal-best time of 28.89 and clocked a time of 1:03.78 in the 400m dash while throwing 26.04m in the javelin.

In the 4x100m, CCNY's team of Aakaysha Williams, Kaylin Soto, Samantha Maendel, and Craig was the top squad with a time of 54.56. 

In the 4x400m relay, CCNY's team of Kaylin Soto, Joeli Valerio, Sandra Lu, and Amelia Cataldo finished second overall in a time of 4:58.04.
