CCNY Baseball Sweeps Baruch in Sunday CUNYAC Doubleheader

New Rochelle, NY - The City College of New York baseball team enjoyed a successful Sunday afternoon outing, earning a pair of CUNY Athletic Confeerence wins at home over Barcuh College. With the win, the Beavers improve to 7-17 and 4-2 in CUNYAC play.

Game One - CCNY 6, Baruch 4
Trailing two runs entering the bottom sixth innings, the Beavers rallied strongly with four runs.

Sophomore Erik Rank drove in the tying runs with a two-RBI double to left field. In the next at-bat, Junior Bryan Lopez knocked an RBI double to center field, plating Rank, 

Lopez scored the final inning run on Rich Cirliano's RBI single, lifting the Beaver's lead to 6-4. 

Senior Tyler DiBlasi led the Beavers, going 2-for-3 with a walk and scored two runs. Junior Stephen Suprun finished 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Game Two - CCNY 9, Baruch 2
In the third inning, sophomore Rich Cirigliano tallied the first run for the Beavers, aided by Junior Michael Chasanov's RBI single. Baruch answered back in the top of the fourth, scored a run on Joseph Bello's RBI single, 1-1.

CCNY responded with force in the bottom of the fourth, posting five runs on four hits. With runners on first and second, Lopez regained the lead with a two-RBI triple and later stole home to extend the Beavers's lead to 4-1. Sophomore Kevin Budzinski drove in DiBlasi for the next run on an RBI base hit to left field. Chasanov scored Budzinski on an RBI single for the final run of the inning, 6-1.

The Beavers scored two final runs in the sixth inning via Cirigliano's RBI single through the left side and Suprun's RBI triple to right field.

Rank earned the win on the mound, improving to 4-2. He tallied a season-high nine strikeouts and allowed six hits.

Next, the Beavers are in action on Wednesday, April 17, when they travel to Centenary University at 3:30 p.m.
