CCNY Men's Track & Field Places Third at 2026 CUNYAC Outdoor Championships

New York, NY –  The City College of New York men's track & field team delivered a strong all-around performance at the 2026 CUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, finishing third overall with 122 team points at Icahn Stadium.

CCNY finished behind Hunter (176 points) and Medgar Evers (167), while narrowly edging Lehman (118) for third place in a tightly contested team race.

Sophomore distance runner Michael Abayev led the Beavers on the track with a pair of championship performances, capturing first place in both the 800 meters (2:08.48) and 1500 meters (4:28.42), earning 20 combined team points.

Senior hurdler Antonio Oliveira-Nurse added another conference title for CCNY, winning the 110-meter hurdles in a CUNYAC-marked time of 17.13. Oliveira-Nurse also scored in the 400-meter hurdles with a fourth-place finish (1:05.48), while contributing in both the long jump and triple jump.

CCNY's sprint group also produced several standout finishes throughout the meet. First-year standout Mustapha Abubakar earned runner-up honors in the 400 meters with a time of 49.87 and added a third-place finish in the 200 meters (22.48). Fellow freshman Jonathan Patterson placed third in the 100-meter finals with a time of 11.33.

In the field events, freshman Matthew Zboinski turned in one of the top all-around performances of the championship meet. Zboinski captured the javelin title with a throw of 37.89 meters while also placing second in both the pole vault (2.61m) and hammer throw (30.93m), in addition to a fifth-place finish in the discus.

Sophomore Muniru Abdulai contributed a third-place finish in the long jump (5.68m) and fourth in the triple jump (11.72m), while freshman Dontay Mobley earned bronze in the triple jump with a mark of 11.80 meters.

CCNY also found success in the throws, as Brandol Jorge Corporan placed third in the javelin (34.03m), adding to the Beavers' strong point total in field events.

In distance competition, Trent Santoro scored in both the 5000 meters (6th, 21:19.17) and 3000-meter steeplechase (5th, 12:29.98), helping round out a balanced team effort.

The Beavers added points in the 4x400 relay, where the team of Abayev, Oliveira-Nurse, Daniel Gonzalez, and Abubakar placed fourth with a time of 3:52.33.
