CCNY Women's Track & Field Places Third at 2026 CUNYAC Outdoor Championships

New York, NY – The City College of New York women's track & field team delivered a strong all-around performance at the 2026 CUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Icahn Stadium, finishing third overall with 101 team points.

CCNY placed behind Hunter (223 points) and Medgar Evers (199), while finishing ahead of Lehman (53) and York (2), highlighting a competitive showing across both track and field events.

Leading the way for the Beavers was sophomore Karuna Aikawa, who captured the CUNYAC Championship in the 10,000 meters with a time of 46:24.18, earning 10 team points. Senior standout Serena Warner also secured a conference title, winning the shot put with a mark of 10.85 meters.

Warner added to her standout day with three additional scoring performances, placing second in the hammer throw (30.03m), third in the discus (23.69m), and fifth in the javelin (20.36m), showcasing her versatility across throwing events.

On the track, first-year sprinter Jennifer Hepburn impressed in her championship debut, finishing second in both the 200 meters (26.73) and 400 meters (1:01.34), while also posting the fastest time in the 100-meter preliminaries (12.88). Teammate Mikelena Bouzy earned a podium finish in the 100 meters, placing third in the finals (13.07), and added a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters (26.98).

In relay action, the quartet of Hepburn, Victoria Pena, Warner, and Bouzy secured a second-place finish in the 4x100 relay with a time of 52.89.

The Beavers also excelled in the field events. Hailey Thomas earned second place in the high jump (1.41m), while also scoring in the long jump (5th, 4.70m) and triple jump (6th, 9.46m). Pena added a third-place finish in the triple jump (9.77m) and fourth in the long jump (4.75m).

First-year thrower Nicole Onuoha placed second in the discus (28.58m) and sixth in the shot put (7.94m), while junior Sofia Campos contributed in both the discus and hammer.

In distance events, Susan Smolaga posted solid performances in the 800 meters (5th, 2:52.60) and 1500 meters (4th, 6:02.79), rounding out a balanced effort.
