Men's Basketball Welcomes Staten Island on Friday for Home Opener

New York, N.Y. - The CCNY men's basketball team welcomes the College of Staten Island on Friday night in their first home game of the season and their conference opener. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the Nat Holman Gymnasium. 

CCNY (0-4) returns to their home court after a recent defeat to Albertus Magnus on Tuesday, 104-72. Junior Ty-Ler Banks led the Beavers with a team-high 17 points and five rebounds. Senior Mike White had 12 points, three assists, and three steals. Junior Romello Rashad added a season-high 14 points and junior Isaiah Denard ended with 10 points.

Through four games, the Beavers lead the conference in total offense, averaging 78.8 points per contest. Banks comes into Friday's matchup as the conferences' third-leading scoring, averaging 20.8 ppg and ranks second among all rebounders, totaling 11.8 per game. White currently leads the team in assist with 3.3 per game and averages 13 ppg.

Junior guard Romello Rashad nets12.8 ppg while sophomore Ian Javier and junior Isaiah Denard add12.8 ppg and 10.0 ppg, respectively

Staten Island (1-5) is coming off a loss against Stevens Tech on Wednesday, 58-55.  Junior guard Christian Taylor led CSI with 18 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Junior Adeola Latunji chipped in 11 points along with seven boards in the contest

Taylor leads the Dolphins in scoring this season as he averages 20.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg. Junior Adeola Latunji is CSI's second-leading scorer, averaging 17.3 and leads the team in assists with 6.8  per game.
