New York, N.Y. - The CCNY women's basketball team will host the College of Staten Island on Friday, Nov. 30 in their conference opener in a 5:00 p.m. matchup at the Nat Holman Gymnasium. The Beavers and Dolphins both have identical records through the early part of the season of 3-2 overall.
CCNY has won their past two contest on the road against St. Joseph's -LI, 58-45 (11/20) and Purchase, 64-57 (11/26). Senior
Emily Arias led the Beavers in scoring in both games, finishing with a career-high 23 points at Purchase. Senior
Ashley Brooks enters Friday's game recording three double-doubles so far this season after a performance of 16 points and 11 rebounds at Purchase. Sophomore
Crystal Blair has registered two double-doubles this season, including a season-high 14 points and 10 rebounds on Monday.
CCNY has players averaging double digits in scoring as Brooks and Arias lead the team with 10.2 ppg. Brooks also leads the team in rebounding with 9.2 boards per game while Blair is averaging 7.0 rebounds per contest.
CSI comes into Friday's contest with two straight losses. The Dolphins fell to Misericordia, 70-56 on Nov. 20 and lost to Mount St. Mary, 57-40 on Wednesday. Sophomore guard Megan McEwan led the way for CSI with 10 points and seven rebounds, while senior forward Rosa Perone finished with eight points.
McEwan is leading the team in scoring with 15.4 ppg, and junior forward Diana Todaro averages 11.2 ppg.
