New York, NY - The City College of New York women's soccer program closed out the 2023 regular season on Wednesday, shutting out York College at home, 8-0.
With the victory, the Beavers clinch the Regular Season Championship, finishing conference play a flawless 5-0, while also earning the top seed in the CUNY Athletic Conference Championships.
Freshman Lennon Leithauser netted two goals in the sixth and 19th minutes of the contest, tallying her first set of goals in her collegiate career.
Freshman Isabel Osorio and senior Sharon Garcia scored back-to-back unassisted goals in the 6:01 and 15:56 marks of play,
Sophomore Gissell Gonzalez tallied her first goal of the season in the contest in the 22nd minute, pushing CCNY to a 6-0 lead. Freshman Gazalle Dunphy lifted the Beavers to a 7-0 lead, scoring off an assist from freshman Ludmilla Figee in the 27th minute for her third goal of the season.
In the 57th minute, junior Laura Villatoro found junior Samantha Pinto for her first goal of the season to reach an 8-0 final.
Next, the Beavers will host Brooklyn College on Saturday, Oct. 28, in the semifinals of the CUNYAC Championships at Randall's Island Field 75 at 11:00 a.m.
