CCNY Women Track & Field Delivers Strong Showing at West Point Tune-Up

West Point, NY - The City College of New York women's track & field team turned in a series of strong performances at the West Point Tune-Up meet, highlighted by standout showings from several freshman athletes.

In the 60 meters, freshman Jennifer Hepburn advanced to the finals with a 12th-place finish in 8.12 seconds, marking a strong start to her CCNY career. Teammates Nicole Onuoha (9.31) and Caroline Egan (10.90) also competed in the preliminaries, gaining valuable experience.

Hepburn continued her momentum in the 200 meters, finishing 5th overall with a 26.71, while freshman Mikelena Bouzy placed 8th in 27.49.  Caroline Egan rounded out the event for CCNY with a 37.55.

The 400 meters saw Hepburn reach the podium with a 3rd-place finish in 1:01.49, followed closely by Bouzy in 6th (1:05.21) and Fahmida Choudhury in 15th (1:15.98), demonstrating CCNY's depth in the sprint and middle-distance events.

In the 800 meters, Karuna Aikawa (3:16.87) and Jennifer Cuba (3:38.93) led the distance squad, while the mile featured strong runs from Isabelle Ashpole (6:54.80) and Aikawa (7:05.29).

The field events were highlighted by sophomore Hailey Thomas clearing 1.38m (4'6.25") in the high jump for 7th place, while Victoria Pena earned top-10 finishes in both the long jump (4.69m / 15'4.75") and triple jump (8.61m / 28'3"), showcasing her versatility.

In the throwing events, senior Serena Warner excelled, placing 5th in the shot put (10.65m / 34'11.25") and 7th in the weight throw (14.20m / 46'7.25"), while Onuoha added experience in both events with a 19th-place shot put (8.04m / 26'4.5") and 22nd-place weight throw (7.23m / 23'8.75").
