NEW YORK, NY – The City College of New York women's soccer team has been selected to finish second in the 2026 CUNYAC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced by the conference Monday morning.
The Beavers received 20 points in the preseason poll, including the only first-place vote outside of defending champion John Jay, placing CCNY second among the conference's six teams.
John Jay earned five of the six available first-place votes and totaled 25 points. The Bloodhounds enter the season as the two-time defending CUNYAC regular-season and tournament champions. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams.
CCNY enters the 2026 campaign following a strong 2025 season in which the Beavers finished as the CUNYAC Tournament runner-up. Brooklyn was selected third in this year's preseason poll with 18 points.
Lehman followed in fourth with 13 points, while York earned nine points and Medgar Evers rounded out the poll with five.
One player expected to play a key role for the Beavers in 2026 is Sara Dos Santos. After making an immediate impact as a freshman in 2025, Dos Santos ranked second on the team in scoring with three goals and one assist. She started all 13 games in which she appeared.
Now entering her sophomore season, Dos Santos will look to build on her promising freshman campaign and provide an offensive spark for a CCNY squad with championship aspirations.
Under second-year Head Coach Yanique Newman, the Beavers will look to build on last season's success and challenge John Jay for the conference crown.
"We're excited about the expectations surrounding this group heading into the season," said Newman. "Receiving a first-place vote and being selected second shows the respect our program has earned, but our focus remains on the work ahead. We want to continue developing as a team, competing at a high level, and putting ourselves in position to compete for a championship."
The Beavers will open the 2026 season on Friday, September 4 on the road against Rutgers-Newark.
