KINGS POINT, NY - The CCNY men's track & field had an impressive showing on Sunday, competing at the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational, hosted by USMMA.
Senior
Timothy Lin continued her stellar day with picking up two personal bests in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Lin won the 100-meter dash, clocking 11.36 and took third in the 200m dash, crossing the line in 23.31. Freshman
Dominic Dhaniram also ran personal-best in the sprints, running 12.10 in the 100-meter dash and 24.40 in the 200-meter dash.
In the 800 meters, sophomore
Jules Day ran to a first-place finish in the with a time of 1:57.41. Sophomore
Muhammed Qadri placed fourth overall in 2:02.87 and senior
Joseph Espinoza claimed fifth in 2:04.44.
Senior
Justin Herbert was first in the long jump with a leap 6.68m and came second in both the high jump ( 1.67m) and triple jump (12.18). Sophomore
Richard Kish earned a first-place in the triple jump, with a mark of 12.25.
Freshman Mailk Ford produced a second-place finish in the discus throw, with a personal-best toss of 29.81m. He also was third in the shot put (9.83m) and fifth in the hammer throw (23.93m). Classmate
Christopher Peguero-Liriano threw personal-best in the discus (29.71m) and hammer throw (18.60m), placing third and sixth respectfully in each event.
In the 3000m steeplechase, sophomore
Merlin Padilla Jr. finished second with a time of 10:21.35 while senior
Albert Leonardo took fifth-place in a new personal-best time of 10:50.26. Senior
Thomas Sullivan notched a sixth-place finish in the 3000m, running 10:18.13.
The 4x400m relay team of Lin, Day,
Solomon Butler, and Qadri combined to run a time of 3:32.30, placing first overall. The 4x100m relay team of Lin, Day, Butler, Herbert ran a combined time of 45.51.
The program return to action on Friday, Apr. 19 - 20 at the Widener Invitational hosted by Widener University in Chester, PA.
