NEW YORK – Over the past decade, there has been one constant at the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships—the City College of New York men's team standing at the top of the podium. That wasn't about to change on Sunday night at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center. The Beavers won seven different events and captured their unprecedented 10
th straight CUNYAC crown.
"The tradition and the history of winning in this program was here before I got here," Head Coach
Demetrius Murray said. "My team is reminded on a regular basis that this is special—what they are doing and the history they are a part of. Every time we step onto the track, we represent CCNY, and there's an expectation to win. This is a big deal, and it's an honor and a pleasure to be a part of it."
Championship MVP
Habibu Gado (Bronx, NY) scored points for the Beavers in six different events. After finishing in a three-way tie for first place in the high jump, he was the only one to clear 1.84 meters (six feet, ½ inch) in the jump-off to claim the gold medal. Gado then earned his second gold medal of the meet in the 4x400 meter relay.
