NEW YORK – The City College of New York women's track & field team got the indoor season underway by taking part in the TCNJ Indoor Opener at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center on Saturday night. CCNY sent a small contingent to the meet, in which there was no team scoring.
Lucy Piacentini (Hicksville, NY) captured ninth place in the triple jump with a leap of 10.87 meters (35 feet, eight inches), and she also took 21
st in the 60 meter hurdles with a 10.23-second clocking.
Karen Anunagba (Bronx, NY), meanwhile, finished sixth in the 60 meters with a time of 8.56 seconds.
Just three weeks after running in the cross country Atlantic Regionals,
Amy Jacob (Queens, NY) made her indoor debut in the mile. She posted a time of 6:39.45, which was good for 11
th place in the event. In the 400 meters,
Tia Tyrell (New York, NY) (1:11.81) and
Tanya Hounkpevi (Bronx, NY) (1:15.31) placed 17
th and 19
th, respectively.
CCNY will now take nearly a month off before resuming its indoor schedule. The Beavers' next competition will be the Princeton Invitational on Jan. 5.
